Exodus Rhymes

Yo, in the midst of Exodus
reflecting the broken state of us
Lonely yet content, leading yet lost
running towards the promised good life
all for what the cost
late night clock still ticking
all I'm doing is this mouse clicking
tick-tock, waiting to be God's chosen flock

Science and Religion

I asked a friend in theology school,

“How do you bridge the gap between science and religion?”

He replied by saying,

“Wrong assumption, wrong beginning; I don’t think there is a separation between the endeavor. Scientists, back in the days, the 16th and 17th century, the time when man fell, Adam and the tree, mankind not only fell spiritually, but intellectually as well.
Back then, a lot of the scientists thought pursuing God was pursuing science. They say evolution and Christianity clash and that people have to choose one or the other.
But really? When did evolution become proof of God’s nonexistence anyways? The Bible is not the book of everything. It’s a mashup of different types of literature that ultimately portrays God. Science, on the other hand, works in a specific domain: the physical world. Not to say that spiritual world excludes the physical, but it focuses on what is sensible to the five senses; of course a little deeper into than what is for the naked eye."

Brotherhood Lost

You have no idea how difficult it was for me after all that happened. I recognized you as brothers. I had found my identity, my companionship, my joy in with you all. I had taken you as gifts from God. Nevertheless, I now know that we have not shared the same thoughts. Perhaps I was more depending. Perhaps you never valued me as much.

I could tell you that everything is okay now. However, I know that deep inside it will never be the same, not because of anyone’s fault, but because time has passed. We have changed. We can no longer praise God at the same time in the same place. God has drifted us apart. Only through prayer will we stand as one once again.

One day, we will be all that we wish to be, through God’s glory.

Filled the Temple

"And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple." 1 Kings 8:11

Isn't this what we all long for during worship? Isn't this what we hope for every week when we sit in the bleachers? Isn't this what we want for our lives? To be completely shocked by the glory of the Lord, in awe of His presence?

A Humble Request of the Night

A request, Lord, for I am weak.

I wish to love what you have set before me.
I wish to do well in what I do, yet I wish to stay humble.
I wish to travel the world freely,
meeting new people, touching their hearts, changing their lives.

This job I do, however, it is so broad, yet so limited.
The fundamental flaw of man is never corrected.
The disease suffered and treated is but temporary, a transience.
The flesh withers away, but the soul, O the Soul! It lives on.
Let me live accordingly.

Confessions in Lecture 4/16

Honestly, the only thing I want to do
is write rhymes, rhythms for your soul to dance to.
And I know this reality seems unforgiving,
and though you may think nothing will change
When all you see is scribbles on a piece of paper, know this:

There is more to this world than you see
the Spirit eats no food you need
It lacks no sleep, no desire for the body.
It is sustained by joy in love, hope for life, faith in God

This poorly written word here cannot change the world
but it can change you, and you, can change the world.

So smile on, you are not alone
until all walls and barriers become dust
Your spirit shall live on

As for me, I too, shall live on and write on.

오늘엔

감정이 더 사라지기 전에
이 세상에 붙힌 발이 더 떨어지기 전에
나의 생각이 흩어지기 전에
뜨겁게 사랑하고 싶다

On Our Shoulders

"As a jeweler engraves signets, so shall you engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall enclose them in settings of gold filigree. 12 And you shall set the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, as stones of remembrance for the sons of Israel. And Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders for remembrance." Exodus 28:11-12

God tells to engrave the names of the twelve sons of Israel on stones, to carry them on our shoulders.
We carry the names of our faith ancestors on our shoulders.
We carry the grace of God on our shoulders.

Faith in Action: Elijah and Rain

"Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, 'As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.'" 1 Kings 17:1

A man before the King announces that through God's divine power, there will be no rain unless at his word. Check out his authoritative stance. Fabulous.

Mind Control #6423

Was it just an impulse?
I thought you were standing here on will.
Persevere; you are no mistake.
