Something to Remember By

I asked God for strength that I might achieve,
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for - but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am among all men, most richly blessed.

큰 일을 이루기 위해 힘을 주십사 하나님께 기도했더니
겸손을 배우라고 연약함을 주셨습니다 .
많은 일을 해낼 수 있는 건강을 구했더니
보다 가치있는 일 하라고 병을 주셨습니다.
행복해 지고 싶어 부유함을 구했더니
지혜로워 지라고 가난함을 주셨습니다.
세상 사람들 칭찬 받고자 성공을 구했더니
뽐내지 말라고 실패를 주셨습니다.
삶을 누릴 수 있게 모든 걸 다 달라고 기도했더니
모든 걸 누릴 수 있는 삶, 그 자체를 선물로 주셨습니다.
내 소원 모두 들어주셨습니다.
하나님의 뜻을 따르지 못하는 삶이었지만,
내 마음속에 진작에 표현 못한 기도는 모두 들어주셨습니다.
